Y12 Student Completes Transformative Internship with Catapult

This summer, Year 12 student Safina Lawrence successfully completed a four-week internship with Catapult as part of our Career Ready programme. The internship marked the culmination of a year-long journey, during which Safina worked closely with her mentor to build confidence and strengthen her employability skills.

Throughout the placement, Safina had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various departments, including the Consumer Insights Team and the Account and Bid Management Team. Her internship concluded with a professional presentation to colleagues at Catapult — a fitting end to an experience that broadened her horizons and deepened her professional skill set.

Reflecting on the experience, Safina said:

This Internship made me more aware of opportunities I could explore in the future, since I was able to hear backstories and the journeys of everyone who works at the Catapult. I was also surprised at just how much my A level/BTEC subjects related to a variety of jobs at the Catapult. This experience gave me an opportunity to become more confident, while also improving skills such as communication, problem solving and presenting. I’m extremely grateful that I had the chance to further develop my skills which I will now be able to apply to roles I undertake in the future. I wasn’t considering a job in the energy sector but now I am.
