The UCAS Hub

The Hub is a central resource for students making decisions about their future. It’s free, easy to use platform that features tools, resources and advice for students, parents and advisors.

Key features of the Hub include:

  • Exploring options: The Hub helps students discover and compare courses, apprenticeships, and careers.
  • Planning and applying: Students can track their progress through the application cycle with resources that include important dates, advice on personal statements, and information on student finance.
  • Personalised advice: When registering for the Hub, students can get tailored support and advice based on their interests and career goals.
  • Interactive tools: The Hub features tools like the Careers Quiz to help students explore their strengths and potential jobs.
  • Subject spotlights and virtual work experience: Through a collaboration with Springpod, the Hub offers free resources to help students get a taste of different career paths.
Alternatives to university

The digital guide covers various post-18 options beyond traditional degrees.

Students can explore different types of apprenticeships, which allow them to earn a wage while gaining qualifications and work experience. UCAS provides tailored guides with tips from employers and other apprentices.

  • Employment: For students who want to enter the workforce directly, the guide offers advice on finding jobs, building a CV, and gaining valuable experience.
  • Gap years: Students can find guidance on taking a year out for volunteering, travel, or gaining new skills before starting a new path.

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs): The guide also includes information on HTQs, which are qualifications developed with employers and aligned with in-demand skills.
