PHSE

Department Intent

The PHSE curriculum will provide the knowledge and understanding to ensure a future that is healthy and safe. It will encourage participative and actives citizens, prepared for life and work.

 

The curriculum will equip students

·         With the understanding of how to keep themselves healthy.

·         With the knowledge needed to develop positive and safe relationships, including sex.

·         The skills needed to make choices based on well informed personal morality, understanding that the decisions they make will affect them and others.

·         To be inspired to have curiosity and explore personal dreams and goals, including future education and career opportunities.  

·         With the opportunity to understand their own identity, how they interact with the world and respect for cultural differences seen between individuals

Year 7

•             Emergency first aid

•             Vaccination and immunisation.

BHR Values day – Sexting, Relationship Qualities, Self-esteem & Body image, Contraception & STIs

·         Power and control in intimate relationships

·         Risk in intimate relationships

·         Importance of sexual consent

·          Misperceptions about young peoples’ health choices

·         Physical and psychological effects of alcohol.

BHR Values day – Relationship Abuse, Marriage, Sexual Consent, Pornography

Term 2 Unit(s) Title: Taking care of me

Topics Include:

·         Exam stress

·         Staying healthy

·         Digital relationships.

Term 3 Unit(s) Title: Exam Preparation

Students review all of the GCSE topics and practice their exam technique.
