Team Grace are Y7 Football Semi Finalists!

The Y7 football team travelled to play their semi final cup fixture away at Park Hall Academy. The game started off fairly even with both teams having good spells of possession and creating chances. Team Grace then had some good attacking opportunities and a great through ball onto Logan Jackson saw him get brought down into the box, where we were then awarded a penalty. Logan stepped up and managed to score the penalty to make the score 1-0 to Grace. Park Hall then started to dominate in attack with a great strike by them, which made it 1-1. Just before halftime, Park Hall continued their attacking play and the boys had a lot of defending to do with Park Hall unfortunately scoring just before half time to make it 2-1. A few tactical changes and a team talk at half time allowed Team Grace to reset and following on from a corner, Reggie Hughes was able to tap it in to make it 2-2. Park Hall were then able to get another back to make it 3-2. The boys’ heads did not drop and they really battled hard to get another back through Sawyer Ballard to make it 3-3. Park Hall continued to make a good few strikes but Alfie Parr made some incredible saves to keep the score line 3-3 and take us into extra time.
During extra time both teams creating good chances but the game remained at 3-3, which took the semi final into penalties.
Alfie Parr made some excellent saves in the penalty shootout to allow Grace to win 3-0 on penalties with Jaedon Hughes, Reggie Hughes and Harvey Burns all scoring their penalties.
The boys showed excellent attitude and determination throughout the game, working collaboratively to battle hard in tough periods. The boys showed excellent resilience throughout the game and our Grace values of RESPECT and EXCELLENCE throughout. Well done boys on a well deserved win!
The boys will play either Tudor Grange Solihull or St Peter’s Catholic School in the final!
