Grace Academy’s Vibrant World Book Day Celebration

Grace Academy once again hosted a fantastic World Book Day, filled with exciting activities that brought students and staff together in a shared love of reading. Every year, the academy celebrates this special occasion with enthusiasm, and this year was no exception.
The day kicked off with a “Bookie Breakfast,” where students gathered to enjoy a morning treat while discussing their favourite books. The school buzzed with literary excitement as over 250 books were given away during break time at the World Book Market, encouraging students to explore new stories and genres.

Throughout the day, every class engaged in a story on the hour, every hour, immersing students in different narratives and sparking their imaginations. A World Book Day quiz saw participation from all year groups, testing their knowledge of literature in a fun and interactive way.
A special highlight this year was the involvement of Post-16 students, who dressed up as their favourite fictional characters, adding a lively and colourful touch to the celebrations. As always, the staff joined in with creative costumes, making the event even more memorable.
The Learning Centre became a creative hub during lunchtime, where students designed book covers for their favourite stories, showcasing their artistic talents. The celebrations also extended to English lessons, where over 100 students entered the National Young Writers’ Short Story Competition, demonstrating their storytelling skills and creativity. Their challenge was to write a grim tale however only using 100 words. Winners will have their stories published and will receive prizes later on this year, however some of Grace’s gruesome story winners were Laila Prescott, Isabelle Pepall, Kacey Medland and Aimee Pearson.
World Book Day at Grace Academy continues to be a much-anticipated event, inspiring a love for literature and celebrating the joy of reading across the academy community.
