Willmott Dixon Open Doors Event
On Monday 13 March, 6 academy students were given the opportunity to visit a Willmott Dixon construction project. Willmott Dixon is a privately-owned contracting and interior fit-out group that delivers a huge variety of projects and services that have a positive impact on people’s lives. It is their philosophy that everyone has a unique potential and ability to make a difference and succeed. Willmott Dixon representatives showcased what the construction industry has to offer for aspirational young people, as well as what support is available to students looking to enter the industry.
Grace Academy Solihull students spent the first part of their morning with the West Midlands Social Values Manager, who gave a detailed insight to the world of construction, careers pathways and different apprenticeships available to them when they leave the academy.
Students were then taken on a tour of an active building site by a senior construction project manager who showed them the intricate detail and hard work that goes into each and every project. This tour was supported by a project manager apprentice which gave students the opportunity to dive into the world of apprentices and all they have to offer.
A very well done to all of our students that attended this trip and represented the academy to the highest standards. We will continue to work with Willmott Dixon on future projects so if your child has a keep interest in the construction industry and would like the opportunity to attend future events, please ask them to speak to Mr. Pettitt, our Academy Careers Coordinator.
