The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Launches at Grace Academy Solihull
The Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award is a brilliant opportunity for young people to develop skills outside the classroom and we are excited to have introduced this programme to students in Years 9 and 10 at Grace Academy Solihull from this year.
It will give students the chance to take on new challenges via the skills and physical sections of the award, as well as give back to the community through the volunteering section. Towards the end of the summer term, those who have completed at least one of the mentioned sections of activities, will take part in an expedition where they will have the chance to use navigation, camping, and first aid skills gained as part of the programme. This year we have had huge interest with over 70 applications to join, and from this 38 students have now been selected to take part. In September we will open the opportunity to the next group of Year 9 and 10 students but for now, we wish all participants good luck and look forward to sharing some of their exploits over the year!
