Grace Academy Excels At Business Event

12 of our year 10 students took part in the Birmingham Airport Challenge. Students were tasked with pitching a new airline concept to a panel of 5 judges from Birmingham Airport. Students had to research the airline market and decide on a Brand, Target Market, Financial Plan, what destinations they would fly to etc.  There was 3 other local schools also taking part in the challenge (Cockshut Hill School, John Henry Newman Catholic College and Tile Cross Academy)  and each school put forward 2 groups.

I am pleased to announce Grace Academy Solihull were awarded:

1st place (Group 2: Alfie McHugo, Amelia McKeever, Shelby Howells, Daniel Cliff, Ben Hughes and Elliott Cusack)

2nd place  (Group 1: Crystal Donaldson, Amanda Gwafa, Amiee Denston, Elli O Neil, Ilesha Glave and Hammad Ramzan).

The Judges said they struggled to decide on a winner as both group’s concepts were unique and well-presented however the winning group had more research to back up their recommendations.

Taking part in The Birmingham Airport Challenge was an extremely valuable and exciting opportunity. The challenge allowed students to develop many transferable skills such as Communication, Team-Work and Research, all skills that will be extremely valuable in the workforce. Students found the challenge really insightful working with local employer Birmingham Airport and delving deeper into the World of Aviation and all the jobs associated with the airport.
