All A level specifications in Film Studies are designed to encourage candidates to:
- Enhance their enjoyment and appreciation of film.
- Develop critical understanding of film through cultural, historical background/context
- Explore production processes, technologies and other relevant contexts.
- Become independent in research skills and their application in their production work; developing their own views and interpretations.

2 Year A- Level Course
Film is designed to allow students to draw on their existing experience of film and the media and to develop their abilities to respond critically

Course suitable for
Students who wish to apply their communications and English skills in a new way. Students who are interested in cinema and film from around the world and who have a creative streak.
Preferable entry requirements
Grades in accordance with the 6th form entry requirements. (See Information & Course Guide) Plus GCSE English and Media – C grade

Film Studies is designed to encourage students to enhance their enjoyment and appreciation of the film industry through its cultural context. It also develops critical understanding of film through engagement with media products and concepts through the creative application of production skills.
Progression opportunities
Students who wish to enter the world of performing arts such as theatre.
Why grace academy
As a small department students are supported on a one to one basis with pass rates of 100% A-E at AS and 100% A – E at A2.
