As the Grace Academy specialism, Business and Enterprise is at the forefront of every student’s learning needs and experiences. Students within each year group are given the opportunity to partake in a number of Business and Enterprise events throughout the academic year.
These events include:
- Market days, where students are encouraged to set up their own market stall
- Business lunches, where students dine with our local business partners
- Special themed industry days where students are given an insight into a number of business industries including Logistics, Customer Service and the Food industry.
- Stock Market Challenge where students compete with other schools by investing in real life businesses on the stock exchange.
Learning walks are also taken throughout the year in the Solihull area, visiting a number of local businesses, giving students an insight into the ins and outs of running various multinational businesses.
The department will through Computer Science develop the understanding and skills of the fundamentals and principals of Computing. They will analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including designing, writing and debugging programs. Grace Academy Solihull KS3 students will also use two or more programming languages, at least one of which is textual to solve a variety of computational problems while studying Computer Science.
This exciting new course will be delivered in one our many ICT B&E suites enabling students keep up to date with today’s computing demands and needs.
The Business and Enterprise Department run a number of courses throughout all year groups including KS3 Computer Science, KS3 Business, KS4 GCSE Business Studies, KS4 GCSE Edexcel ICT, KS4 ECDL, and KS5 A Level Edexcel Business. The Business and Enterprise Department are also looking to introduce Computer Science in Year 9 and Computer Science at KS4. The Computer Science GCSE at KS4 will be focusing on the theory of Computer Science and also focus on programming and algorithms.
