Speak Out Challenge

Speak Out Challenge

Every young person should able to speak confidently and also have their voice heard.

Many young people want to “Speak Out” about a range of issues/ topics that they feel strongly about, or an issue they would like to change. However, they do not always have the confidence or necessarily know how to influence others to their point of view. At Grace, we certainly believe every young person should able to speak confidently and also have their voice heard.

Accordingly, Year 10 pupils participated in the “Speak Out” Challenge Workshop delivered by the Speakers Trust to equip them to address an audience on an issue they would like to change or are passionate about.

The day provided an opportunity for all pupils to unlock their potential through the power of communication . All pupils had to speak on a topic of they felt passionate about without referring to their notes. Speeches delivered ranged from advocating for more donations for rare cancers to The need for the school day to start later. At the end of the day, eight winning speakers were chosen to go on to the Assembly Final which will be held at the end of the term. The winner of Assembly will represent the Academy at the Regional Final in July where they will compete against other schools participating in the challenge.
