Academy achieves outstanding GCSE results, building on ‘Good’ Ofsted’

Students at Grace Academy Solihull are celebrating achieving outstanding GCSE results after rapid improvements over the past three years, culminating in a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in May.

The Academy has retained its place as one of the highest performing and most improved schools in the region for the third year running with average attainment improving across all subjects by half a grade.

An outstanding 81% of students achieved the new Grades 4 to 9 in English which is the equivalent of A* to C, with 45% achieving more than the expected progress in this key subject.

Ofsted highlighted the Academy’s careful planning of innovative teaching to meet the needs of individual students, as well as a drive to improve students’ progress. Combined with a focus on challenging the most able students, this has resulted in the percentage of students achieving higher grades in Maths more than tripling since 2016.

High performing subjects included Biology and Physics in which 100% of students achieved A* to C with an impressive 36% achieving A* to A.  Media Studies also stood out with a remarkable 84% of students achieving a grade B or above.

Many students went on to achieve outstanding individual results and Year 11 student Hannah Carter from Grace Academy Solihull who achieved 9 A*s and As said:

“I have never felt so happy in my life, all of my hard work has paid off.”

On hearing about the Academy’s continued success, Principal Darren Gelder said:
