|Students will study their solo performance skill on a chosen instrument/voice and will produce both solo and ensemble performances in a variety of styles and genres.
Assessment- coursework: 1 solo performance and 1 ensemble performance.
|Students will learn how to write original pieces of music in a variety of genres including popular music, film music and the western classical tradition.
Assessment- coursework: 1 free composition and 1 composition based on a set brief from the exam board.
|Over the 2 years, students will study a range of musical styles including pop music, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll, bhangra, classical, baroque and film music. They will learn how these styles developed and the structures/features used in each one.
Assessment- 1 ½ hour listening/written exam at the end of year 11.
All GCSE Music students will receive 1 weekly lesson on an instrumental/voice from one of our visiting teachers.
Music along with drama has many transition links with local primary schools including Supersing and collaboration in the annual school musical. We also run workshops in both instrumental and vocal skills.
