2 Year Vocational BTEC Extended Diploma Course in Computing.
Grace Academy offers students the opportunity to study BTEC Extended Diploma in Computing. This is a two-year course after which pupils will gain the equivalent of 3 A level qualifications, suitable for pursuing a career in computing or the study of computing or IT through higher education which doesn’t require taking any additional A levels alongside.
Course Suitable for:
Students who wish to develop a specialism to study computing at a higher level or train with in the sector. You will be required to study through a variety of mediums including independent study and placements.
Preferable Entry Requirements
At least 2 5 GCSE’s Grade 4 and above.
At least Grade 5 at English or Maths.
At least a Grade 6 in Maths
Computing is a new addition to the BTEC qualifications at Grace Academy. It will allow students to focus on a chosen pathway of computing and develop a variety of skills and knowledge for higher education or a career in this field. This course is based upon work related scenarios and links well to further education or career choices. Computer at KS5 opens up the opportunities to expand your learning from GCSE and develop your skills further.
The Extended Diploma in Computer Science can lead to further study at many universities in the country. Careers which involve computing skills include; web design, mobile apps, computer graphics, computer video editing, networks, IT support, to name a few.

The Extended Diploma will be assessed through assignments, Pearson tasks and written exams. The assignments will be set and marked by Grace Academy staff, these involve a series of tasks set in a work related scenario over a period of time. The tasks set by Pearson will require students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in real life scenarios that they are likely to encounter in the work place. The written exams are set and marked by Pearson on Unit 1 to 4, these are 2 hours, 1hr 30 minutes exams and 5 hours (3/2 split) and 6 hours controlled assessment, respectively. Each unit contributes points proportionally to the overall grade.
