Students who enjoyed History at GCSE and analysing why events in the past happened.

This subject includes writing essays, using evidence and analysing the motives of people in the past, students who enjoy those activities will enjoy History.

Preferable Entry Requirements

Grades  in accordance with the 6th form entry requirements. (See Information & Course Guide) plus GCSE Grade 5 History and English.

Why Study?

History is an interesting subject that allows you to explore the motives and actions of people in the past using a greater range of source material than you will have used before. It is a subject that will give you a great deal of choices in the future because it is flexible and well-regarded by employers and universities.

Progression Opportunities

History is a highly regarded A-Level subject because of the range of skills that it develops. These skills, such as being able to research effectively, structure high-quality arguments and consider the validity of different interpretations are applicable to a wide range of careers and university courses. These skills are particularly relevant to law, teaching, journalism and politics amongst many others, as well as setting students up well for further study.
