Course Introduction:

This is designed for those of you who want to work in the Health and Social Care Sector. If you want to become a social worker, care worker, mentor, midwife, nurse then this would be suitable for you. This course is equivalent to 1 A level.

 

Description:

It is for post-16 learners who want to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment in the health and social care sector. The qualification is equivalent in size to 1 A Level. This course can lead to a variety of different opportunities with regard to your learning journey.

 

Course Suitable For:

This course is designed for people who want to work in this industry sector. If you want to become a social worker, care worker, mentor, midwife, nurse then this would be suitable for you alongside other A Levels. It is also for anyone who has an interest in working with the elderly and the young.

 

Preferable Entry Requirements:

Grades  in accordance with the 6th form entry requirements. (See Information & Course Guide)

Progression Opportunities: 

This qualification is the main focus of a two-year study programme of learning and is equivalent to 1 A Level, meaning that learners will be fully prepared for a range of health and social care degree programmes. By completing the course you will be able to apply to University for courses in midwifery, nursing, etc, alongside other A Levels.

Modules

Learners taking this qualification will study 3 mandatory units and 1 optional unit:

  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Working in Health and Social Care
  • Meeting Individual Care & Support Needs
  • Supporting individuals with additional needs

 

Assessment Methods

Learners study 4 units of which 3 are Mandatory and 2 are external.

You will need to monitor your own progress. We want you to become self-critical and to think about how you can improve and you will be expected to work hard and productively. Being present in the academy for as long as it is necessary for you to meet your targets and succeed in your learning. You may be required to have a DBS check to ensure you are suitable for the course.
