Hayden Steven and Katerina Bellou were voted in as Head Boy and Girl for Grace Academy after a rigorous assessment process which involved making a speech to other prefects.  Their peers were then invited to vote on who they thought would make the best Head Boy and Girl, and votes from the teachers were also taken into account.

“I wanted to be Head Girl to prove that nationality or where you come from doesn’t matter.  If you work hard enough you can reach what you want to achieve,” said Katerina Bellou, new Head Girl for Grace Academy, who also added, “I am proud of the improvements the school has made and genuinely believe that, in a few years’ time, we will be one of the most outstanding schools in the region.”

Talking about her leadership role, Katerina said, “I feel like to be Head Girl you need to try and set a good example and behave around school, so that those in the younger year groups feel they can come to see you.  If there is anything you want to suggest or change, you can put your idea forward to staff. I would like an emphasis on charity events.  It’s something we should all be more willing to do and it makes us grateful for what we have and aware of what people are doing to help the community too.”  Commenting on the team, Katerina said, “The prefect team are great and very easy to work with. Being part of the team is a real motivation for me, setting high standards of behaviour and being an example.  It focusses the mind and students respond positively.  I think I have a good connection with most of the students so I hope they feel free to come to me if they need help because we are there to help with any concerns students have.”
